Many years ago, a domesticated box turtle wandered into my backyard. I couldn't find his owner, so I adopted him. I took him to the vet to make sure he was okay. I wasn't sure of his age, but learned he was most likely an older turtle. He refused to live in an enclosure. He also refused to live inside or outside all of the time. Speedy had a mind of his own, and did he as he pleased. In general, he seemed to like being outside during the day (when the weather was sunny warm, which it often was) and inside at night. He loved people and animals, and was very social. He always wanted to join in the fun. He was very loved and cared for. Never take a wild turtle out of their environment and never dump a domesticated turtle into the wild.
